Window Cleaning in Avon, OH

Most window cleaning quotes cover the outside of the glass only, which is why two quotes for what sounds like the same job can look very different. We separate ours on purpose. Exterior-only handles the weather side. The full service takes in the parts that actually hold the dirt, which are the tracks and the screens, and clean glass sitting behind a dirty screen still does not look clean from inside.

The Difference

Why homeowners choose PowerClean Pros for window cleaning

You can see what you're buying

Exterior-only and full service are quoted separately, so the difference is stated up front rather than discovered afterwards.

Tracks and screens included in full service

Screens hold a surprising amount of grit. They come out, get cleaned, and go back.

Built for lake-Effect grime

West-side homes collect a mineral film on the weather side that a household glass cleaner smears rather than removes.

The Detail

What actually gets windows dirty on the West Side

Glass does not just collect dust here. Close to Lake Erie the air carries fine mineral-laden moisture, and when it dries on the weather side of a window it leaves a hard-water film rather than loose dirt. That film is mineral, so a household spray cleaner smears it around instead of dissolving it, and the haze comes back looking worse in raking afternoon light. Lifting it takes the right solution and a proper squeegee finish that pulls the water off cleanly, so the glass dries without the streaks a cloth leaves behind.

The parts that hold the most grime are rarely the glass itself. Window tracks collect grit, pollen and dead insects that pack into a paste at the bottom of the frame, and a screen gone grey is filtering the outside air onto the glass every time the wind blows. Cleaning the glass while leaving the tracks and screens loaded is why windows look dirty again within days. The full service pulls the screens, clears and wipes the tracks, and washes both sides of the glass, which is the version that actually stays clean.

Frequency follows the seasons. Spring carries tree pollen and the grit left over from winter road treatment, and fall brings the last of the leaf debris before the windows spend months shut. Most homes on the west side do well with a clean in spring and another in fall, and lakefront homes taking constant mineral spray often want the weather side done more often than the sheltered side. Second-storey glass is reached with the same care as the ground floor, so the whole house finishes matching rather than clean below and hazed above.

Worth Knowing

Why the weather side needs more attention

The side of the house facing the prevailing wind off the lake does the most collecting, so it hazes faster than the sheltered sides and is worth cleaning on its own schedule between full-house visits. Left long enough, the mineral film can begin to etch older single-pane glass, a dulling that no cleaning reverses once it has set, which is the practical reason not to let it build for years. Newer double-pane units resist that, but the film still blocks light and shows badly in low winter sun. None of this needs harsh chemistry, only the right solution worked across the glass and pulled off with a squeegee before it can dry and spot again.

Watch For These

Signs you need window cleaning

  • A haze on the outside of the glass that wiping from inside never fixes
  • Grit and debris packed into the bottom tracks
  • Screens gone visibly grey or dulled
  • Hard-water spotting under and around exterior sills
  • Cobwebs in the upper corners of frames you cannot easily reach

Where We Run From

Based in Avon Lake, covering Cleveland's West Side

We work out of Avon Lake, on the Lake Erie shoreline about 17 miles west of Cleveland, as a service-area business with no showroom to visit. From there we cover the west-side suburbs along the I-90 corridor and range south through Strongsville to Brunswick in Medina County. The five towns we prioritize, Avon, Avon Lake, Strongsville, Westlake and Brunswick, each have their own page with local conditions and routes.

Good to Know

Window cleaning: frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the two window services you offer in northern Ohio?

One covers exterior glass. The other adds the interior glass, the window tracks and the screens. We will tell you which one you are quoting for before any work happens.

Do you clean screens on window jobs in northern Ohio?

In the full service, yes. They come out, get cleaned, and go back in.

Can you reach second-story windows on Cleveland's west side homes?

Yes, that is standard on both services.

Why does the glass haze up again so fast near Lake Erie?

Wind carries mineral-laden moisture off Lake Erie onto the weather side of the house. It is a film rather than dirt, which is why wiping it dry tends to smear it.

What does window cleaning cost in the Cleveland area?

It depends on the window count, the storeys, and whether you want the full service with tracks and screens. Quotes are free and given before the work.
